So diet 1.0, the bare basics of what you need to start your journey toward optimal health. Get a pencil and a notepad, turn the phone off, and be ready to concentrate. Here we go boys and girls:

“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.” -Greg Glassman

Yep, it really is that simple folks. We’re going to eat as nature and evolution intend. It’s this very basic nutritional plan known as the Paleo Diet.

“What Is The Paleo Diet?
“The Paleo diet is the healthiest way you can eat because it is the ONLY nutritional approach that works with your genetics to help you stay lean, strong and energetic! Research in biology, biochemistry, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and many other disciplines indicate it is our modern diet, full of refined foods, trans fats and sugar, that is at the root of degenerative diseases such as obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, depression and infertility.” – www.robbwolf.com

“What about getting in all my whole grains?”
You’re not meant to eat them, they suck, and your body hates them on a cellular level.

“What about all that fat, isn’t it bad for you/your heart?”
No, your body needs fat like you wouldn’t believe. It’s super important for all of your functions and you die without it. Cardiovascular disease is a modern problem that’s tied to processed carbohydrate more than anything else. “According to the CDC, cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. Interestingly however, our Paleolithic ancestors and contemporarily studied hunter-gatherers showed virtually no heart attack or stroke while eating ancestral diets.” –www.robbwolf.com

We’ll get into much more complex dietary issues as we go, but this is our starting point.

Okay To Eat Avoid

Vegetables Grains
Lean Meats Processed Food & Sugars
